Yes, So You Think You Can Dance is back and now my life is complete once again! :-) I love the show and after watching the first audition show just now, I already have favorites!! I can’t wait for the audition process to be over (though I enjoyed them so much as well!) so that the real “dance” can begin! :-)
I’m not a big fan of Shrek movies. I mean they are ok, but I don’t go crazy over them or own any of the movie DVDs. But we had a choice between Shrek or Hair to go see and I didn’t think I could handle bright pink, ocean blue, neon green and who-know-what-else-colered hair-dos jumping around on the stage so my husband and I picked Shrek to go see for our long over-due date night. We had little to no expectation for the show but I must tell you, we loved it and laughed quite a bit!
Shrek was well, green and funny, Fiona was hysterical and very unlike-princess often times, Lord Farquaad was hilarious and a comedy himself, all the fairytale characters were cute and delightful, Donkey was quite animated, the voice of the lady who sang Dragon’s song was out of this world and oh, that little girl who played young Fiona…she was just too adorable!!
The show lasted little over three hours including intermission and though we didn’t leave the theater until after 11pm and that we were tired and exhausted at the end, it was a great date night for us! If only I didn’t have to climb a thousand steps to get to our balcony seat (it was a quite an undertaking for this preggie without the elevator!) plus if only Bob Carr Performing Arts Center wasn’t built in the 18th century (ok, so I’m exaggerating a bit here and it was actually built in 1926 but come on, if you can’t flush the toilet on the third floor due to high bathroom usage during intermission, it’s definitely not a modern building!), everything would’ve been perfect! :-)
I have a special attachment to this city since I was 11 years old and thought I’d post some pictures I took from my last visit. I love going for a walk early in the morning by the St. Johns river because it’s just so beautiful, peaceful and calm….

This is me trying to be artistic :-)
I found out about Ebates last year when I started my Christmas shopping and I thought it was brilliant! I’m an online shopper and who wouldn’t want to get paid to shop?! :-) You get cash back on your online purchases if you go through the Ebates websites plus it tells you about various rebates and coupons out there! I love watching my cash back amount go up every time I shop online and yesterday, I got my very first Ebates check in my mail! It’s not a big amount but it’s something and I can’t wait for my next check! *^^* Happy shopping to me~ :-)
My Very First Ebates Cash Back Check! Whoohoo~
I heard Michael W. Smith singing this song on Fox news this morning. He wrote this for his wife of 28 years and I thought this was just so sweet.
It made me be thankful for my own miracle (a.k.a. my hubby *^^*) and I pray that we, too, will be enough….
YOU BELONG TO ME
by Michael W. Smith
I knew you were the one
My heart was overcome
The day I looked into your eyes
The feeling’s so surreal
Like time was standing still
When you said you would be mine
Oh, you are a miracle
Sweeter than I’ve ever dreamed
You’re so much more than beautiful
How can it be that you belong to me?
So walk with me awhile
And we will spend our lives
Learning the mysteries of love
And through the darkest nights
We’ll hold each other tight
I promise that we’ll be enough
Oh, you are a miracle
Sweeter than I’ve ever dreamed
You’re so much more, more than beautiful
How can it be that you belong to me?
Oh, girl, you are, you’re more than beautiful
How can this be that you belong to me?
I love you, I love you, I love you.
Girl I love you, Oh you are, You are more than beautiful.
How can this be, that you belong to me?
Ok, so I love Maroon 5 and this is their new song and I’m liking it. I didn’t dare put their music video cuz it’s just aweful and well, just embarssing! Don’t judge me for liking this song though! :-) I love many of their songs and they are sweet, I promise! Well….sort of… :-)
I watched two cute movies recently; My Blueberry Nights and 17 Again. And I got to know a song called The Greatest by Cat Power that was in both movies ironically! I don’t know how to explain but the song is quite….soulful, and I love the singer’s voice. You can listen to the song below.
I know, I know. Seriously, Zac Efron’s movie?! :-) I was at the library with Bella and I didn’t see any movies I wanted to check out while Bella was picking out yet another Wiggles DVD and I went, what the heck! *^^* I must tell you, it was such a cute and sometimes touching movie!!! I loved Zac’s acting in this movie and he was quite adorable(?). I literally laughed out loud throughout the movie. There was one scene that I really liked where Zac’s character was pretending to read a letter (which wasn’t a letter after all and he was saying it from his heart) to his wife in divorce court:
“Scarlet, before you go through this, I want to remind you of September 7th, 1988. It was the first time that I saw you. You were reading Less Than Zero, and you were wearing a Guns ‘n’ Roses t-shirt. I’d never seen anything so perfect. I remember thinking that I had to have you or I’d die… then you whispered that you loved me at the homecoming dance, and I felt so peaceful… and safe… because I knew that no matter what happened, from that day on, nothing can ever be that bad… because I had you. And then I, uh… I grew up and I lost my way. And I blamed you for my failures. And I know that you think you have to do this today… but I don’t want you to. But I guess… if I love you, I should let you move on.”
I’m such a teenager! Go ahead, laugh it up, but I’m proud to say that I loved this movie! :-)
I heard of Norah Jones being in a movie a long time ago but I didn’t know it was by Kar Wai Wong who also directed one of my favorite movie called, Chungking Express. The film was so colorful, trendy, cute, beautiful and intriguing and I loved Jude Law’s character and his facial expressions in the whole movie. Norah Jones (whose music I love so dearly that my husband even played in the background while he was proposing to me!) did a great job with her acting and she was just so adorable!
I “felt in love” with Daniel Day-Lewis in The Last of the Mohicans when I was 13. Even though I didn’t speak English back then and had to rely on the subtitles, I could understand his character so well because he played the part so perfectly.
And then he impressed me over and over again with his movies (In the Name of the Father, The Age of Innocence, The Crucible and Gangs of New York to name a few) and never let me down. Today, I watched another movie of his, Nine.
I love musicals but I’m not into movies that has musical elements so this was totally out of my comfort zone. And I must be honest and say that I was not crazy about the film. But it was really entertaining to watch all the women perform different songs including Judi Dench! And Daniel Day-Lewis’ performance was still fabulously beautiful. I think Judi Dench said that Daniel pours his character into himself so completely that he transforms himself into a character perfectly and that all there left of Daniel himself is just his skin. So true.
So You Think You Can Dance is my THE favorite TV show ever and the season 7 just started with auditions. I saw this young lady named Ida Saki from Iran and I couldn’t help but crying! I really do hope she gets to stay in the season 7…
I was able to find this clip of her full dance routine to this music and I was just amazed at how beautiful she dances…
I love this music, which is the main soundtrack for a film, Schindler’s List, written by John Williams (the violin played by Itzhak Perlman). I still remember sitting in the movie theater watching this film which changed so many lives I’m sure….
Ever since my sister-in-law introduced us to sporcle.com about a year ago, I have been enjoying “sporcling” from time to time to mainly kill time but gain some knowledge in the process. :-) It made me memorize many things including books of the Bible, U.S. Presidents, silly and not so silly facts as well as geography, which I’m notoriously horrible at. It’s fun to do it along or with family and friends as a group, so try and see if you like it! :-)
Founded in early 2007, Sporcle came to life with the response to its first quiz, naming the U.S. Presidents. As avid crossword, Jeopardy! and trivia fans, we created that original quiz not only to test knowledge, but also as a way to learn a piece of information that seemed to come up again and again. Since then, Sporcle has continued to create quizzes for entertainment, memory and diversion (don’t worry, we won’t tell your boss). You can play one of the thousands of quizzes (and increasing daily) or make your own! <source: http://www.sporcle.com>
