It’s 1988 and Dexter Mayhew and Emma Morley have only just met. But after only one day together, they cannot stop thinking about one another. Over twenty
years, snapshots of that relationship are revealed on the same day—July 15th—of each year. Dex and Em face squabbles and fights, hopes and missed opportunities, laughter and tears. And as the true meaning of this one crucial day is revealed, they must come to grips with the nature of love and life itself.
I didn’t enjoy this book much at all. :-( I heard so much about the book and apparently, they are making a movie out of this book featuring Anne Hathaway (not that all the books that make it to films are good anyway) so I had a high expectation but I was quite bored by it through out the whole over 400 pages!
I felt that the author was not in touch with characters for some reason (not emotionally involved?) and describing things as matter of facts. Plus I felt like I was reading an ordinary person’s life story, which is totally fine, BUT described in quite an ordinary way. The ending was abrupt (well, at least where the story of the two ends) and I was left emotion-less at the end of the book.
Needless to say, I’ll be curious as to how they turn this into a movie…
